Hello and Welcome to Sheila Food, my personal Vegetarian Recipe Blog.
I started cooking vegetarian from scratch just before I married in 1988. I have to give the credit of my push start to my husband Danny for teaching me the basics of bread making, grains and not to be afraid to spice it up. I quickly passed up my husband in the kitchen with my first creation being my most popular almond butter cookies, which I have perfected throughout the years. Next to my family, creating vegetarian recipes and cooking is one of my greatest passions in life. The challenge of creating new recipes for my vegetarian family has been a wonderful and positive journey. My hope is that within this Blog you will find great recipes to satisfy the palates of the vegetarians in your life, along with non-vegetarians who dine at your table.
The title, Sheila Food came about from our children and their friends. At least once a month, usually in the warmer months of the school year, I would spend my entire morning preparing food for 15 to 20 high school kids. They would all swam the picnic tables at once, eat all the food I made in 10 to 15 minutes and rush back to the high school that was 1 1/2 miles down the road. It was fun making huge amounts of my 5 cheese Mac and Cheese, Cheese and Rice Enchilada's, Lasagna, Green Salad, Potato Salad, Quinoa Salad, etc. Those kids loved their Sheila Food. Now adults, they still love it when they visit and can enjoy a little Sheila Food!
Happy Cooking,
Sheila
